The main pipes welding for China’s third-generation EPR NPP is going smoothly. The main pipe of Unit 1 Taishan NPP has 4 loops and 24 welded junctions; at present, the welding on two junctions is complete, the rest is expected to be finished by the end of October.

EPR is one of the most-advanced third generation PWR NPPs. To guarantee the intended function and the service life of the main pipe, an automatic welding should be adopted.
