Quality and technical level of nuclear equipment are important to the safety of nuclear industry. Recently, the National Energy Administration (NEA) drew up a draft for nuclear power equipment plans after carefully probing the current situation for the Chinese nuclear equipment industry. The draft focuses on nuclear technology, equipment manufacturing and critical materials and designates the main work and development direction of nuclear equipment in the “twelfth five-year plan” period. The equipment plan is regarded as an important part of the “Nuclear Power Long- and Middle-term Plan”. 

NEA held a symposium on nuclear power equipment and invited China Machinery Industry Federation, National Development and Reform Commission, China National Nuclear Corporation, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation, State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation, China First Heavy Industries, China Erzhong, Harbin Electric, Dongfang Electric, etc. Participants discussed the development and task of China’s nuclear equipment manufacturing industry with emphasis on the situation after the Fukushima accident.
