Egypt plans to start an international bidding process this June for its first nuclear energy plant. The Electricity and Energy Minister Mr. Hassan Younus declared on May 24th that “related documentation of this international bidding has been verified by our national council, financial department, and early stage of preparation work was completed.”

As the first civilian NPP in Egypt, E1-Dabaa NPP has a project budget of 3-4 billion US dollar, the first Phase is expected to have two power sets with a capacity of 0.9 to 1.65GW. China National Technology Imp. &Exp. Copr.(CNTIC) and Zhongyuan Foreign Engineering Corporation (CZEC) are keeping a close watch on it.
