The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) drew up a draft for nuclear safety action plan

According to NHK reports, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently drafted an action plan for ensuring world nuclear safety and wrote in detailed nuclear safety strengthening measures. According to the draft, IAEA will make an assessment on the nuclear control and supervision department of each country every 10 years.

It is reported that the action plan has presented to each member country. In the draft, the rule for strengthening nuclear safety is: nuclear safety assessment and crisis management will be conducted through 10 projects; IAEA will make an assessment on nuclear safety of each country every 10 years in order to check whether each country’s nuclear control and supervision department carries out safety measures, and an extra inspection might be made within three years according to the assessment results.

In addition, the draft also requires creating a brand new assessment framework. An independent nuclear expert group led by IAEA will make regular assessment on nuclear plant’s design and crisis management. It is learnt that the draft after discussion by each member country will be submitted for deliberation next month when IAEA holds a plenary meeting.
