China signed a nuclear safety agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency on August 16, the Xinhua News reported, citing the China Atomic Energy Authority. The safety agreement is to further strengthen cooperation between China and IAEA on nuclear safety and regulation.
This safety agreement was signed during IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano’ visit to China at the invitation of China Atomic Energy Authority. Yukiya Amano is positive for the nuclear development in China and he expects China to play a larger role in international nuclear events.
The safety agreement will also promote the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, including implementation, publication, translation and its amendment.
