At invitation of Chinese Government, IAEA dispatched a group of experts to China to conduct comprehensive monitoring of nuclear and radiation safety assessment from July 19th to 30th. It is the third time that IAEA impose such assessment work to China’s nuclear and radiation safety regulation since 1990. The assessing group consist 23 experts from 16 countries. Representatives from China Atomic Energy Agency, Ministry of Health, National Energy Administration, China National Nuclear Corporation, and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation attended the meeting.
The assess work included the regulation of nuclear and radiation safety, safety regulation guidance , standard system, regulatory organization, nuclear facilities( nuclear power plant, research reactor, nuclear fuel recycle facilities), radioactive waste, regulation of application of nuclear technology, emergency preparedness, international cooperation. The assessment report will be submitted to relative department. Included in the report will be the comments and suggestions for improvement.
