06.09.12 China aims at selling nuclear reactors at a global level with France’s help

Bernard Bigot, general administrator of France’s Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), is to travel to China next week to meet with the heads of the Chinese Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and of energy group CGNPC. Mr. Bigot’s priority will be to make some progress on the joint development of a mid-power nuclear reactor, of about 1,000 megawatts (MW), by French and Chinese players, reports “Les Echos”. According to CGNPC’s vice president Zheng Dongshan, “If we are to work together in nuclear energy, it is like in aerospace: we cannot set up either Air France of Air China. It has to be a solid common base which allows making this cooperation.
