February 14th-15th, Mr. Zhang Guobao, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Director of National Development and Reform Committee and National Energy Administration, visited the headquarters of Westinghouse Electric and EMD pump factory of Curtiss Wright at Pittsburgh, U.S. 

On February 14, Dr. Aris Candris, CEO of Westinghouse Electric, Mr. Ric Perez, Senior Vice President, Mr. Tony Greco, Senior Vice President and other top managers welcomed Mr. Zhang Guobao and his delegation. They introduced to him about the current construction of AP1000 in China, license awarding and construction of AP1000 in U.S. as well as the latest and future development of AP1000 in the international market. Mr. Zhang was concerned about the construction of AP1000 and the challenges it had in China. Both Westinghouse and Mr. Zhang also discussed the future nuclear power development and the situation of global nuclear power.

On February 15th, Mr. Zhang Guobao and his delegation visited the Electric Machinery Department (EMD) of Curtiss Wright—AP1000 main pump manufacturer. General Manager of EMD, Mr. Brian Eckels, Chief Director of EMD Power Division, Mr. Richard K Krchnavy, and Chief Director of Commercial Nuclear Development, Mr. Keith Hensler, attended the meeting with Mr. Zhang Guobao. They introduced R&D, manufacturing and testing of AP1000 shield pump and showed Mr. Zhang the manufacturing and testing site of the AP1000 shield valve.
