According to Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences’ (CASHIPS) “ITER-TF super conductor” was delivered and shipped out.

The ITER-TF conductor, 780 meters long, will be used for the construction of the ITER devices. It is the first ITER product produced by the Chinese and the completion of the construction is ahead of the rest of the ITER participating countries.

The completion of the conductor lays a solid foundation for China to improve nuclear fusion technologies and create its own fusion reactor, expert says. ITER Director-General Mr. Osamu Motojima gave high appraisal to the conductor and regarded it as a big success. He believed that “China is in a leading position.”

According to Mr. Li Jiangang, Head of Institute of Plasma Physics, CAS, production of ITER conductor has been 100% localized in China, and only China and Japan could achieve this among the seven ITER counties. Additionally, among six parties that undertook the construction of ITER conductors, China is the only country able to pass strict and rigorous international tests at one time.
