2012 World Nuclear Power Outlook International Seminar was held in Hanoi, Vietnam

On January 17th, the 2012 World Nuclear Power Outlook-Nuclear Power Policy, Safety and Technology Improvement Seminar hosted by World Nuclear Association and Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology was held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

44 representatives and experts from United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, American Nuclear Regulatory Commission, International Atomic Energy Agency, Institute Of Energy Economics Japan, UK Loyds Register organization, M+W Group, ITOCHU Corporation, Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology, Vietnamese Nuclear Safety Administration, Vietnam Atomic Energy Research Institute, Vietnam first nuclear power plant preparatory office and World Nuclear Association attended the meeting.

The meeting introduced each countries’ activities and measures after Japan Fukushima nuclear accident. Vietnam representative introduced the nuclear power development in Vietnam. By 2020, Vietnam’s nuclear power installed capacity will be 10.07 TW, account for 10% of the total installed capacity. Vietnam government has approved to build two 2 TW nuclear power plants in Ninh Tuan. It has signed cooperation agreement with Russia and Japan. The first reactor will begin to constructed in 2014.
